Her Story

About Michelle

Michelle DuPrat founded her company, Household, in 2004 after studying design history and art history. She began her career working in a design agency focused on retail, where she developed expertise in branding, strategy, and creating emotional connections through live experiences. Her work emphasizes the commercial power of brand experience design across industries such as fashion, entertainment, and food. Notable projects include designing multiple flagships and a retrospective exhibition for Christian Louboutin at the Design Museum around 2012, as well as creating the first Harry Potter flagship store in New York. Michelle advises young women entering the field to believe in their instincts, speak up, and trust their own opinions while remaining open to others.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Believe in what you think and say it out loud. Be open to other people's opinions but trust yourself and your own opinions. If you have an instinct or a sense of something, trust yourself and speak up.
