Her Story

About Michelle

I've always had a passion for science and how the body works. I've been in the medical field for 25 years, starting in biotech and pharmaceuticals where I trained doctors on complex diseases and worked with biologics for autoimmune diseases. My passion led me to open the first med spa in New York City about 20 years ago, Skintherapy, which combined spa services with medical treatments in one place. It was featured on the Today Show, CNBC, and in Time Out New York as Best of New York. I opened a second location and eventually sold the med spas 6-7 years ago. I became fascinated with functional medicine and learning to treat the underlying cause of disease rather than just the disease itself. I focused on cell membranes, believing that if you could fix one cell, you could fix everything. During COVID, I opened Health Buyer Club, initially a buying club for people with chronic illnesses to access supplements and devices like hyperbaric chambers and hydrogen machines, which evolved into a biohacking platform. I finished my training as a functional diagnostic nutritionist and have been searching for technologies that have dramatic effects on the cell membrane. That's when I discovered the technology behind Voltae Lift, an FDA-approved device using technology originally developed for astronauts for wound healing and pain management. I'm now bringing this medical-grade prosumer device to the over-the-counter market so women can have access to real science-based solutions for lifting and tightening skin, treating Ozempic face, and stimulating hair growth. I'm also writing a book called 'Recharged: Aging is the Loss of Voltage, and Now You Can Restore It' to educate women that aging isn't just about losing collagen and elastin, but about losing the voltage needed to make those proteins. My values are credibility, authenticity, and science-based solutions, not marketing hype. I can't sell something I don't believe in or tell people to buy something that's not real or true.

Ten minutes with Michelle

01What do you attribute your success to?

My father came here from Cuba with nothing, and he always told me that I had such great opportunities in this country, and that I should take advantage of every opportunity that I have and work harder than everyone next to me. I would say it's from my father and the values he instilled in me about making the most of the opportunities available in this country.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Follow your passion and do what you love. I can't sell something I don't believe in. I can't tell people to buy something that's not real or true. You have to find something that matches your energy and where you are in your life, and find something you could do that makes you happy. I've been very into meditation and believe in finding work that aligns with who you are.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I'd give the same advice that I'd give to my daughters: find something you love, put 100% effort into it, and keep your values when you're doing it. Don't compromise your values to do a job. Also, learn how to use AI, but don't rely on it completely. It's important to develop your own skills and capabilities while taking advantage of new technologies.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Credibility, authenticity, and science-based work are most important to me. I need things to be proven and based on science, not on marketing. I can't sell something I don't believe in or tell people to buy something that's not real or true. In my personal life, I'm very into meditation and working on getting your body out of the fight-or-flight response and relaxing your nervous system, which I believe is really important for everything in your health. I believe the body has the capacity to heal when it has the right kind of raw material, and that includes sunlight, the right foods, and your mental state.
