Her Interview

Ten minutes with Michelle

01What do you attribute your success to?

I am passionate about what I do and believe HEMS is the greatest job in medicine. Because of that, I believe we have a responsibility to approach our work with excellence, maintain a strong work ethic, and always strive to do our very best. As a Christian, I seek to honor the Lord in all that I do, and one of the greatest ways I do that is through the way I work and serve others.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Never let them see you sweat. It's okay to be nervous on the inside, but people are counting on us to walk in with confidence. When things get bad remember that the worst has already happened, it can only get better from here...and that is exactly why we are there.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Stay focused on your goals. Don't fear failure so much. Failure is actually a stepping stone and a launching pad to success. Disappointments and failures sharpen you better than any amount of success ever will. It's ok to cry over it. Do that quickly, forgive yourself and move forward.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge is staying on top of the overwhelming amount of information and education due to advancement of technology, as medicine is constantly changing. Opportunities exist in this field but it's a small area and hard to get your foot in the door; prepare by lining up your career path to be a good fit when positions open.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

My relationship with Jesus Christ and attempting to walk in His standard way of living. He's my standard.
