Her Story

About Michelle

Before starting Sensational Seguin a couple years ago, I was a CPA and worked in accounting for years. When my grandfather got sick and my husband needed care, I had to leave my 8-to-5 job, and this business really gave me the flexibility I needed to be there for my loved ones. Now I spend my days going to networking events - I'm in a lot of different organizations - and I fill my calendar with meeting different people and promoting businesses in our area. We do ribbon cuttings, grand openings, launch parties, and fiestas. We have an annual Salina event and an annual fashion show that keeps growing bigger every year. We sold out our first year, and this year we're getting the big Coliseum. I work with everybody and every budget, and I'm very flexible. I also do non-profit work where sometimes I don't even charge because there's just some projects that are very meaningful. I absolutely love what I do and I'm very passionate about it. My clients mean a lot to me and they love me too, so I love doing things for them and promoting them on Facebook. I'm very blessed to have a lot of women business owners as clients, and they're always telling me I inspire them. I love the love that we have for each other and promoting each other. I have a really good support team and we find ways to help each other.

Ten minutes with Michelle

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

There's a few good things, but you can't please everybody, but just keep doing your best. I am such a people pleaser - I want to make everybody happy - so that's kind of helped me. Also, the Serenity prayer. It's good to just have that wisdom, to know what you can control and what you can do with your abilities.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I've been very fortunate - I have a lot of women business owners, and they make it amazing because they are always telling me I inspire them. I just love the love that we have for each other and promoting each other. I'm blessed with some really good clients and a good support team. We find ways to help each other, and it really helps out.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I feel like we're very fortunate because Seguin is really growing. We're like the 29th fastest growing city in the U.S., and so we're experiencing a lot of growth, which is amazing for my industry because we have a lot of new businesses coming in and there's lots of opportunities for me and my business to assist people. I work with everybody and every budget, and I'm very flexible. Things are always changing, of course - AI and all that - but I think it's helpful that we love to do events in person, not just on Facebook and online. We like to give it that personal touch and build our relationships in person, so we love to do these different types of events.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I think it's important to keep your faith and your family first. My clients mean a lot to me and they love me too, and so I just love doing things for them and promoting them on Facebook. I absolutely love what I do and I'm very passionate about it. I'm very blessed.
