About Michelle
Michelle Martin is a Senior Contracts Administrator at Pattern Energy Group, where she supports large-scale renewable energy infrastructure development, including complex wind and transmission projects. With more than 20 years of experience in industrial construction and energy sectors, she has built a career specializing in mega-project environments that include LNG, chemical, gas, and renewable energy facilities across the United States and internationally, including project work in Australia. In her current role, she focuses on contracts administration, managing change orders, coordinating supplier and contractor agreements, and ensuring deliverables align with project timelines and execution requirements for major energy developments.
Her professional journey began in education, where she spent 12 years as a teacher before transitioning into industrial project and construction management. Over time, she expanded into roles with increasing technical and operational responsibility, including document control and engineering turnover coordination with Fluor Corporation, as well as managerial and real estate-related responsibilities in residential community development. This progression reflects a broad background in project controls, supply chain coordination, engineering documentation, and stakeholder communication across fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environments.
Michelle holds advanced degrees in Educational and Instructional Technology from Northwestern State University, earned in 2003, and has supplemented her academic foundation with professional certifications including Six Sigma and supply chain training. Alongside her technical career, she is also a licensed real estate professional and remains actively engaged in community and church-related activities. Her work is guided by a commitment to disciplined execution, strong collaboration, and contributing to infrastructure projects that deliver long-term public and environmental value.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my work ethic, enjoying building things and knowing that I had a hand in that, providing energy to people across the country like the wind farm serving a million homes.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Do what's right for your family and everything else will fall into place.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Your past is your path. Decide what you want to do, whether climbing the career ladder or balancing career and family, and don't let others decide your path for you.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge in the renewable energy industry is the government and the project-based nature leading to uncertainty about the next project after one ends.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Being productive at work, being a critical team member part of getting the project built, being there for my family, and being a kind person.
