Her Interview

Ten minutes with Michelle

01What do you attribute your success to?

I think my work ethic since I was younger, probably the way I was raised. Being competitive, having a good, solid work ethic. Not give up if you get shot down. You just keep going, pick your feet up, and just keep going, and go for the next person that you're trying to sell to. Just never give up. Just keep moving.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Never give up. Never let your dreams, if you have a dream, go for it. Don't ever think you can't do it.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I like to have them shadow me for a day. Because when I was in college, no one told me what the day in my life would be becoming a rep. I have younger girls that will come into surgery with me, and I'll show them my day in my life. A shadowing program would be really good for people in college. You don't know until you follow and live their lives. Just experience it and see how that job is.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I think a lot of the changes going on, we're going to a lot of AI. We have our own AI person that we call him Lena. The challenges are just trying to adapt to the new changes that you may not be able to speak to someone, you're going to have to go to an AI person or AI and ask them the questions. It's just a new something different that we all have to just adapt to and adjust to. We have competitors but they're not really obstacles.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Honesty. Trustworthy. In this industry you have to have a sense of urgency because you've got patients' lives at hand. If there's a patient on the table and they need a certain size for a heart valve, you have to have a sense of urgency to get the valve there immediately because there's a patient on bypass. So it's a sense of agency but being honest, it's trustworthy.
