Recognized for her excellence in education, she was named in Who's Who Among America's Teachers in 2005 and 2006.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the example set by my family, particularly my maternal grandmother and mother, who instilled in me the value of education and the importance of perseverance. My faith, commitment to honesty, and self-awareness have also been guiding principles that drive me forward in both my personal and professional life.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received comes from the incredible women in my life—my grandmother and my mother. My grandmother, though not formally educated, always encouraged me to pursue knowledge and never give up. My mother, who returned to school decades later to earn her degree, showed me it’s never too late to follow your ambitions. I’m deeply grateful for their guidance, resilience, and inspiration, which continue to shape my journey.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering any industry is to be powerful in your place. Wherever you find yourself—whether leading a team, working behind the scenes, or building your skills—own your role and make it your space of impact. True power comes from embracing your position, finding your peace there, and excelling in it.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field is the difficult environment for teachers and the need for stronger community and institutional support. At the same time, there are exciting opportunities in alternative education models, such as homeschool networks, targeted tutoring, and scholarship programs. For example, I created a scholarship fund for homeschool students to help fill a critical gap and expand access to quality learning experiences.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are faith, honesty, and self-awareness. I believe that knowing yourself—your strengths, weaknesses, and everything in between—is a source of true power, especially as a woman. Outside of work, I love exploring food, cooking, traveling, and spending time at the beach. I’m also passionate about volunteering and supporting education; for example, I’ve worked with our Friends of the Local Library to help revitalize our local library, which I see as a vital resource for teachers, students, and the community.
