Ten minutes with Michelle

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received is to be confident in my goals and to trust my ability to achieve them. Confidence is not about having every answer in advance, but about committing fully to a direction, doing the work consistently, and adapting as needed without losing focus. When I learned to lead with that mindset, I became more decisive, more resilient in the face of challenges, and more effective in turning long-term objectives into meaningful results.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this field is to be confident and know your strengths. Confidence is not about being the loudest voice in the room, but about trusting your training, your judgment, and the value you bring to every situation. Take time to understand what you do well, lean into those strengths, and continue building your skills with intention. This profession will challenge you, but when you stand firmly in who you are and what you are capable of, you will lead with greater clarity, resilience, and impact.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field has been navigating a profession that has traditionally been male-dominated, where women often have to consistently prove their capability, resilience, and leadership presence in ways that may not always be expected of their counterparts. At times, this includes overcoming unconscious bias, balancing high expectations, and ensuring that my voice is heard and respected in critical decision-making environments. At the same time, this has also created meaningful opportunities to lead by example, open doors for other women, and contribute to a more inclusive and forward-thinking leadership culture. I have found that bringing authenticity, confidence, and competence to every role not only strengthens my impact but also helps expand what leadership looks like in this profession.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The most important values in my work and personal life are centered on helping others. I believe in using my experience, skills, and leadership to support people in reaching their potential, overcoming challenges, and achieving meaningful growth. Whether in a professional setting or personal interactions, I am guided by a commitment to service, integrity, and making a positive impact in the lives of those I work with and serve.
