Her Interview
Ten minutes with Michelle
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to building authentic relationships, strategic thinking, resilience, empathy, and a strong commitment to mission-driven work. My entrepreneurial background taught me to recognize opportunities and solve problems creatively, while my time as a board member at a youth organization coupled with my current leadership role in corporate partnerships have shown me the importance of trust, collaboration, transparency and measurable impact. I remain curious, continuously learning through industry networks and professional relationships, staying up to date on the latest CSR trends, and I strive to lead with compassion, purpose, and a willingness to listen and grow.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve received is to treat networking as making real friends and allies, not business contacts. It's important to build trust and surround myself with people who challenge me, broaden my perspective, and help me grow. I’ve also learned not to postpone what truly matters. Career success is important, but health, relationships, purpose, and making a positive impact are equally valuable. I believe the greatest success comes from using what I’ve learned and the opportunities I’ve been given to help others move forward.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would encourage young women entering this field to build both grassroots community-organizing skills and a strong understanding of corporate social responsibility data and metrics. Learn how companies and CSR teams measure social impact by studying sustainability reports and getting involved with local nonprofits. Most importantly, find mentors—especially women leading in corporate social responsibility—who can share their experience, provide guidance, and help you grow with confidence.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I see tremendous opportunity as more companies recognize corporate citizenship and social impact as meaningful parts of organizational culture rather than occasional charitable efforts. A key challenge is ensuring that women in CSR leadership have not only representation but also real influence, resources, and decision-making authority. I believe organizations that combine authentic community relationships with strong analytics, measurable outcomes, and accessible giving solutions can turn corporate generosity into lasting social impact.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Compassion, empathy, advocacy, and purpose are the values that guide me in both my professional and personal life. I believe in using my experiences to support others, advocate for meaningful causes, and encourage people to prioritize their well-being. For me, true success is not only about how far I go, but how many lives I can positively impact through caring, purposeful action.
