Michelle Sider

Michelle Y. Sider is a multidisciplinary Michigan-based artist, educator, psychologist, and published author whose work blends creativity with emotional depth. With over two decades of experience, Michelle is widely recognized for her vivid, movement-rich glass mosaics, paintings, and illustrations. Her work often explores themes of identity, cultural heritage, and healing, as seen in her powerful “I am Yemenite” mosaic series and her co-authored book Never Long Enough, a reflection on grief and loss. As a co-founder of Skywardjems LLC, Michelle continues to use visual storytelling to spark connection and reflection across diverse audiences.
A classically trained artist with a BFA from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree in clinical psychology from the University of Detroit Mercy, Michelle brings a unique lens to her art—one shaped by her understanding of human emotion and behavior. Her career has spanned illustration, teaching, and public speaking, and her mosaics have been featured in national exhibitions like MAI25. Whether she’s working on large-scale installations or mentoring students, Michelle’s work is a testament to the healing power of art and the importance of lifelong learning and creative exploration.
