Ten minutes with Michelle
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute a few things to my success. Throughout my career, I'm driven by a consistent connection to helping others; whether it's helping individuals or teams make sense of complicated environments and move forward with confidence. Consistency has been key with dedication in pursuing my goals. Integrity and personal development are also important. I value self-awareness, accountability, and continuous growth, both professionally and personally.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the industry would be to take it all in. Embrace where you are and know that you're where you're supposed to be in that moment. Be open to learning wherever you are in your journey. Knowledge truly is power. Life has its struggles, but knowledge is something that can never be taken away and will always be your reinforcement, your confidence, your source.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
As an EHR analyst, I believe one of the biggest opportunities in the field of Healthcare IT is acquiring additional knowledge, whether through collaborating with other analysts on projects, supporting end users, or pursuing additional certifications within the field. Depending on how you approach and proceed with the opportunity determines whether it becomes a challenge. What may present itself as a challenge initially, can become an opportunity for growth. It’s about mindset; learn more, do more, and be more.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The most important values in my work and personal life are integrity, self-awareness, accountability, perseverance, and consistency. I believe that if you consistently move through life with accountability, honest self-awareness (without blinders), and integrity; doing the right thing even when no one is looking, your opportunities for growth, personal or professional, are beyond measure.
