Michelle Patterson is an accomplished accounting professional with over 13 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting. She began her career in entry-level accounting roles and steadily advanced through positions of increasing responsibility, demonstrating expertise in financial management, software implementation, and process optimization. Over the years, she has held senior positions such as Corporate Controller at Arkansas Myriad, Controller at Lewis Automotive Group and Karl Auto Group, and Senior Accountant at Blue Ribbon Outdoor, before taking on her current role as Controller at Alpha Mechanical Solutions. In these positions, Michelle has managed bank reconciliations, billing for construction contracts, purchasing and inventory processes, staff training, and technology upgrades, often helping companies modernize and streamline their operations.

Michelle’s approach to accounting is defined by logic, organization, and a commitment to excellence. She has implemented multiple software systems, increasing efficiency and accuracy across financial operations. Her ability to analyze data, present it clearly, and make sound decisions has earned her recognition as a critical thinker and problem solver. Although she has not yet completed her bachelor’s degree, she is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business Management to complement her extensive professional experience.

Outside of work, Michelle enjoys cooking and creating new recipes, relaxing by the pool, listening to music, and traveling to sunny destinations. Her dedication, adaptability, and hands-on experience across multiple industries make her a trusted leader and valuable asset to any organization.

The best career advice I’ve received is: “Every rejection is just a redirection.” This mindset has helped me stay resilient, view challenges as opportunities, and keep moving forward no matter the setbacks.

To young women entering the industry, my advice is simple: keep going. Persistence, determination, and a willingness to learn will carry you far, even when the path seems difficult or uncertain.

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest opportunities and challenges in my field right now come from larger companies. Competing with bigger organizations pushes me to innovate, adapt, and find creative solutions that make a meaningful impact.
