Her Story

About Micole

I started my mobile DNA and drug testing collection business almost two years ago after what I can only describe as a calling. I was scrolling through TikTok when I came across videos from my now mentor, Stephanie Kelly, about starting this type of business. With my background in criminal justice, I was completely fascinated and watched hours of her content, though I initially didn't have the funding to pursue it. Then a series of unexpected events brought me some money, and I literally woke up one morning with this business on my mind and decided to pull the trigger. The majority of my work involves court-ordered drug testing, primarily working with individuals who are trying to reunify their family unit after having their parental rights temporarily removed or their children taken away. I see these clients multiple times a week for months at a time, and we become very close during that journey. What I'm most proud of is creating an empathetic, professional, and non-judgmental space where people feel safe and secure, because they already have so much anxiety coming to see me. I let them know that whatever mistakes brought them here don't define who they are as a person, and we're here to help them change their situation for the better. Right now, it's just me running the business because I believe in being boots on the ground to understand what my future employees will experience. I want to see the bumps in the road and figure out the solutions myself before I can expect someone else to do the role. My vision for the next few years is to have a mobile office so I can serve the underserved population of people who don't have the means to get to our current locations, whether that's due to lack of transportation or limited family support. These individuals are already fighting an uphill battle to retain custody of their children, and I don't want to make the process more difficult for them.

Ten minutes with Micole

01What do you attribute your success to?

“I credit much of my progress to being guided by my faith and staying aligned with the purpose I believe God has placed on my life. This foundation has helped me remain patient, focused, and resilient throughout my entrepreneurial journey. Trusting the process has allowed me to grow intentionally, make thoughtful decisions, and continue serving my community with compassion and integrity.”

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

“The most valuable career advice I’ve received is to thoroughly understand your industry and ensure your business is rooted in genuine passion. Conducting in‑depth research provides the insight needed to make informed decisions, while building a venture aligned with your authentic interests fosters long‑term commitment, resilience, and purpose‑driven success.”

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

“The best guidance I can offer is to take time to pray and reflect before pursuing a new idea. Avoid rushing toward what appears to be the next big trend; trends are temporary and often lack long‑term fulfillment. Instead, choose a path that aligns with your true passions. When your work reflects what you genuinely care about, it becomes something you take pride in—not just a job. Most importantly, pursue opportunities that meet a real need in your community or the world. Lasting impact comes from purpose-driven work anchored in passion, intention, and thoughtful discernment.”

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

“One of the biggest challenges I face is learning how to navigate the business side of entrepreneurship when my previous experience has always been within structured workplaces. When you transition from being an employee with a supervisor, defined expectations, and clear direction to becoming the person responsible for leading every aspect of a business, the shift can feel overwhelming.

This industry is broad, with countless potential service offerings, and it’s easy at times to lose focus or become unsure of which direction to pursue. As inquiries come in for services I may not currently offer, it often raises the question of whether there is a need I should be addressing. The reality is that you don’t know what you don’t know. There are many resources available, yet without understanding what you need or what questions to ask, those tools often go unused. I’ve learned that the key is being willing to voice where you are, share your thoughts openly, and seek perspective from others who can help you move past barriers when they arise.

Staying focused remains an ongoing challenge simply because there are so many potential paths the business could take. Continuing to seek guidance, remain teachable, and surround myself with knowledgeable support has been essential in helping me refine my direction and stay aligned with the purpose behind my work.”

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

“The values that remain at the forefront for me are being faith‑driven and maintaining a strong commitment to family. These principles guide my decision‑making, shape the way I serve my clients, and keep me grounded as I grow my business.”
