Mikaya Wallis Spires
Mikaya Spires is a Co-Founder of Spray Drone Network, a marketing strategist, and entrepreneur who also founded Aerion Ag Consulting, where she helps spray drone operators, agricultural dealers, and ag-tech businesses build brands that scale with confidence. She entered the agricultural industry about five to six years ago and became deeply involved in the spray drone sector approximately two and a half years ago. During that time, she worked for the largest spray drone distributor for agricultural drones for about a year and a half, where she observed a consistent industry challenge: many applicators and dealers excel at operating or selling technology, but often lack the marketing, branding, and customer outreach strategies needed to consistently attract and retain clients. Recognizing this gap, she resigned in January 2025 to launch her own marketing agency dedicated to helping ag businesses strengthen visibility, credibility, and growth strategy.
Since launching her business, Mikaya has built a steady client base while expanding her services beyond traditional marketing. Her work includes managing social media campaigns, developing branding and sales collateral, overseeing contractors, and collaborating on business operations and strategic planning. Her husband later joined the business full-time as a business coach, allowing them to combine marketing strategy with relationship-focused sales development. Together, they expanded their mission by launching Spray Drone Network, a community platform designed to connect farmers, growers, applicators, and dealers while providing access to networking and visibility opportunities for those who may not be able to afford full marketing services. Since launching, the network has grown to over 100 members, reflecting strong demand for accessible industry connections and support.
Mikaya’s professional approach is rooted in both strategy and execution. She serves as the primary strategic and marketing lead across her businesses, focusing on long-term growth planning, customer engagement, and brand development, while also remaining hands-on with daily operations—from designing client marketing materials to attending industry conferences for networking and business development. Her husband leads sales and relationship-building efforts, creating a complementary partnership that balances business growth with community engagement. Through her work, Mikaya remains committed to helping the spray drone community move beyond simply adopting new technology and instead build sustainable, profitable businesses supported by strong marketing, sales, and community networks.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my drive to continuously identify problems and create meaningful solutions for the communities I serve, as well as my willingness to take calculated risks to drive innovation and growth. My professional journey has been shaped by my experience in the agricultural drone industry, where I recognized a critical gap between advanced technology and effective marketing and business strategy. After working with one of the largest spray drone distributors in the United States, where I helped generate significant deal value, scale social media presence, and grow customer and partner communities, I realized that many drone dealers and applicators were highly skilled at their technical work but lacked the marketing and branding expertise needed to grow their businesses. This insight inspired me to resign in January 2025 and launch my own marketing agency, where I now help spray drone operators, dealers, and agricultural businesses build scalable brands, develop strategic marketing campaigns, and strengthen their business development efforts. My husband later joined me full time as a business coach to further support our clients, and together we expanded our vision by launching a spray drone network in October 2025 to connect farmers, growers, applicators, and dealers while also providing accessible support to businesses that may not otherwise afford marketing services. Our platform has grown to over 100 members and has received strong positive feedback, including recognition from major industry manufacturers, chemical companies, and end users. I am proud to combine my educational background in organizational and strategic communication, marketing, and graphic design with a data driven approach to help agricultural innovators move beyond technology adoption and build sustainable, profitable, and trusted businesses.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've received comes from my own experience starting my business: you have to either go all in or don't go in at all. You have to either go head first or don't, because it's going to fail if you aren't 100% committed. That's what I've learned through this journey - you really have to be the driving force for yourself and advocate for yourself.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice is to go all in or don't go in at all. You have to either go head first or don't, because it's going to fail if you aren't 100% committed. You have to be the driving force for yourself and advocate for yourself. Always continue to believe in yourself and keep your goals clear in your mind, continue to support yourself and keep your eyes on the prize, always be aware of the people that are supportive of you and learn from them, be open to opportunities, and take the chance on yourself.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges and opportunities in my field center around helping traditional industries adapt to new technology while still maintaining trust, accessibility, and clear communication with customers. In the agricultural drone and ag technology space, many businesses are adopting advanced tools but need stronger marketing, branding, and customer education strategies to fully maximize growth potential. There is also a need to make business and marketing support more accessible to smaller operators and rural businesses. This challenge creates an opportunity to build community driven networks, educational resources, and strategic marketing solutions that help bridge technology, agriculture, and business growth. I am inspired by leaders who combine technical expertise with community impact, and I enjoy connecting with other women who are building careers in male dominated industries to share knowledge, support growth, and inspire future innovators. Moving forward, I want to continue expanding my work in agricultural consulting, network building, and strategic marketing technology to help more businesses scale sustainably.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me are faith first, 100%. I'm a Christian, and that is what guides my life and my work, and so I want that to be reflected in any experience that my clients or network have with us. Secondly, it would be honesty. We lead with honesty. We want to make sure that we are telling the truth always in a way that's respectful and uplifting, but also transparent. And then the honesty and integrity piece, and then innovation. I'm in a world of spray drones, it's new, it's a new piece of technology, and so being willing to try something new, whether that's with the marketing side of my business or with what's going on with our clients' businesses, and being able to suggest something new. But then mixed in with all that, obviously my family is so important, and it's learning to make time. I'm a newlywed, we're running two businesses, but we still prioritize our family.
