About Mikayla
She is a finance, marketing, accounting, and customer service professional with experience in office support, Microsoft Excel, food service, bakery operations, register management, shift leadership, and employee training. She currently works as Director of Finance and Marketing at Advance Electric, Inc. and has also gained hands-on service experience as a waitress, hostess, cook, and baker. She is pursuing accounting education through the University of Michigan-Flint and Kirtland Community College, where she has earned academic recognition.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Prioritize learning over anything else. When looking at different internships or job offers, focus on what you can learn rather than money or glamour. Experience from difficult tasks is more valuable than a dollar amount and advances you personally and professionally.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Do not shy away from difficult situations. Preparation is key to building confidence and trust with clients or other businesses. Stand by your work knowing you did a good job.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Being young in a male-dominated finance industry can be intimidating, especially when meeting with older professionals. Overcome by being confident in knowledge and prepared.
