Milissa Meckle, B.S.
Milissa Meckle is a seasoned K–12 educator and Library Media Specialist with over 30 years of experience in education, instructional leadership, and library services. She currently serves at Center-Stanton Public School in Center, North Dakota, where she oversees library operations, supports digital literacy instruction, and teaches study skills to middle school students. In her role, she integrates educational technology and library systems to enhance student learning, strengthen research skills, and support curriculum delivery across grade levels.
Throughout her career, Milissa has built a strong foundation in both classroom instruction and library science. She began as an elementary teacher, instructing first and fourth grade, before expanding into library media services and academic coaching. She also advises student leadership programs such as National Honor Society and coaches academic competition teams, helping students develop critical thinking, leadership, and collaborative skills. In addition, she collaborates with regional networks of more than 20 libraries to support resource sharing and expand access to educational materials for students and the broader community.
Beyond her school responsibilities, Milissa is committed to lifelong learning, professional growth, and community engagement. She has expanded her expertise to include publishing, digital tools, and educational content creation, including authoring a student-focused life skills book that achieved Amazon Top New Release recognition. She is also actively involved in philanthropic efforts supporting animal welfare and agricultural youth programs. Milissa is widely recognized for her dedication to service, her adaptability in integrating technology into education, and her ongoing commitment to helping students and communities succeed.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my long-term commitment to education and my continuous drive to improve myself professionally. I have always focused on learning new skills, especially in technology and instructional tools, so I can better serve my students and community.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The most valuable guidance I’ve followed is to remain open to lifelong learning and to never stop improving my practice. Growth comes from staying adaptable, especially in education where technology and student needs are always evolving.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would encourage young women to stay committed to learning and not be afraid to evolve with the profession. Education and library science are fields that require patience, adaptability, and a willingness to embrace new tools and approaches. Growth comes from consistency and openness to change.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges has been maintaining strong collaboration and access to shared resources, especially following disruptions that limited in-person interaction. However, this has also created opportunities to expand digital systems, improve resource-sharing networks, and integrate technology more effectively into teaching and library services.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The most important values in my life are family, continuous learning, and service to my community. I believe in supporting others through education, staying committed to personal growth, and contributing positively to both my school and broader community.
