What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to a lifelong passion for teaching and a commitment to helping students achieve their full potential. I began my career teaching at a private school, tutoring children for over 11 years, and also guiding homeschoolers to succeed academically. In 2016, I founded my own business, Nurturing Minds Tutorial, where I focus on tutoring students in grades 5–8 and hired great teachers who cover ELA and Math grades Kindergarten - 9th. Over the years, I have been fortunate to expand our reach nationwide through online tutoring, earning recognition for my work, including features on The Union Recorder. I take great joy in helping children succeed, supporting parents, and giving back to the community, and I am proud of the positive impact Nurturing Minds Tutorial continues to make in students’ lives.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to always be proud of the work you do. It reminds me to approach every lesson and interaction with students with dedication, integrity, and authenticity, knowing that the effort I put in makes a meaningful difference in their growth and success. As educators, we’re not just teaching subjects; we’re building self-esteem, shaping mindsets, and helping students discover what they’re capable of. It’s an honor to play a role in the journey of future leaders, innovators, and changemakers. That sense of purpose fuels my passion and reminds me why this work matters every single day. At Nurturing Minds Tutorial, our mission is simple but powerful: securing our future one mind at a time, and I’m proud to live that mission every time I teach
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is this: be proud of the work you do. Embrace your passion, trust your abilities, and remember that your commitment to helping students succeed is both meaningful and deeply impactful. Confidence in your skills will not only empower you — it will also inspire the students you serve and lay the groundwork for a fulfilling career. Above all, never stop learning. Ongoing growth is one of the most powerful ways we can support our students. Stay current in your field, seek out new strategies, and always strive to offer the best, most relevant guidance possible.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in education today is the growing number of students who need personalized support, but don’t have access to it. Many educators are doing their absolute best, yet face overwhelming class sizes, tight schedules, and limited resources. At the same time, parents are juggling busy lives and often don’t have the time to go over every assignment or reinforce each skill at home. Also, let's not forget that the effects of the pandemic are still present in family life. Many parents are still managing mental health challenges, behavioral issues in children, or academic setbacks. This is where Nurturing Minds Tutorial steps in. Our mission is to reach and teach as many students as possible, not just to help them catch up, but to fill in learning gaps, secure foundational skills, and prepare them for what’s coming next. By previewing new concepts and reinforcing what they’ve already learned, we equip students to approach future lessons with confidence and clarity. It’s about more than tutoring; it’s about building readiness, resilience, and long-term academic success.
