Her Interview

Ten minutes with Miranda

01What do you attribute your success to?

Being self-sufficient and independent. I'm resilient and wanted to improve myself. I learn from whoever I can learn from. Never give up. I keep reminding myself that I'm just alone in this world, I don't have anybody to help me. My brother already passed away. I was before since 2020. I live alone in the U.S. My extended family, they're back home. It's really me against the world.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Try to be patient, even when people are treating us poorly. Never give up, always ask questions. That's how we learn.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My industry is harsh. You cannot be a spoiled brat. You have to have a thick skin. It depends case by case. It's wiser for us to work in bigger financial institutions that are more diverse and pay better instead of a mom and pop shop.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The challenges are that the industry is harsh and not always treating people right. Opportunities are to learn, improve my knowledge by observing my boss, doing research, and grow. If I want to change my career, I already know the things I learned and can implement the knowledge and skills.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

To be treated right. My philosophy is treat people right the way you want to be treated.
