Her Story

About Miranda

Miranda Clark-Basden, EA is the Founder and CFO of Basden Accounting LLC, a thriving accounting and tax advisory firm dedicated to helping business owners increase profitability, strengthen financial operations, and achieve their long-term goals. With 20 years of experience in accounting and finance, Miranda specializes in business taxation, strategic financial planning, and outsourced CFO services. As an Enrolled Agent licensed by the Internal Revenue Service, she provides expert tax representation and advisory services while helping entrepreneurs move beyond simply understanding historical financial data to making informed decisions that drive future growth.

After graduating from Bowie State University in 2007, where she met her spouse, Miranda began her career in corporate accounting and finance. Over the next decade, she held increasingly senior accounting roles with organizations including Hines, Tishman Speyer, Landow & Co. Management, and IMARK Group. In 2021, she made the bold decision to leave corporate America and pursue her dream of building her own accounting and tax practice. During that transition, she earned her Enrolled Agent credential and focused on creating a firm that would provide both technical expertise and strategic guidance to business owners. Her dedication and vision have paid off, growing Basden Accounting LLC from the ground up into a successful six-figure business.

Today, Miranda's work extends far beyond traditional accounting services. She partners closely with clients as a trusted advisor, helping them develop budgets, evaluate strategic initiatives, improve profitability, and create actionable plans to achieve their goals. A typical day includes meeting with clients, collaborating with her team, reviewing financial statements, participating in continuing education, and providing CFO-level insights that help businesses make smarter decisions. Known for her analytical expertise, client-centered approach, and commitment to professional growth, Miranda takes pride in empowering entrepreneurs to build financially healthy and sustainable companies. She considers her greatest professional achievement to be transforming a vision into a flourishing business that now serves as a trusted resource for organizations seeking both financial clarity and strategic direction.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Miranda

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success first and foremost to my faith in Jesus Christ, whose guidance, strength, and grace have been the foundation of my personal and professional journey. I also owe a great deal to my late mother, whose unwavering belief in me shaped the confidence and determination I carry today. She constantly reminded me that I could achieve anything I set my mind to, and that encouragement instilled a mindset of perseverance, resilience, and possibility. The combination of faith, hard work, and the values she taught me has been instrumental in helping me overcome challenges, pursue my goals, and build a successful business.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've ever received is to go with the opportunity that scares you. Growth rarely happens within your comfort zone, and some of the most rewarding opportunities are the ones that initially feel intimidating or uncertain. Throughout my career, I've learned that taking calculated risks and embracing new challenges often leads to the greatest personal and professional development. Whether it was stepping into leadership roles, earning new credentials, or leaving corporate America to start my own firm, the opportunities that pushed me the most ultimately helped me grow the most.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I am a content creator, and I create a lot of posts around teaching families how to live a debt-free lifestyle. I also have a son who's autistic, so I post a lot of content around that. And I am a breast cancer survivor, so I post a lot of content around that as well. My hobby is content creation. I love it. What inspired me to get into my field is that I've always loved numbers and math and finance, and it just made sense to me to major in accounting. At that time, I was a single mom, and I knew that accounting would give me a stable future and to be able to provide for my daughter.
