Her Story

About Miranda

Miranda Howard is the Founder of HowieJoy, a creative e-commerce business specializing in digital invitations and printable products designed to help customers celebrate meaningful moments. With a strong foundation in marketing and digital strategy, Howard earned her Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Louisiana State University in May and is currently pursuing her MBA in Marketing at Louisiana State University Shreveport (LSUS). Her passion lies in blending creativity, branding, and strategic marketing to develop engaging digital experiences and build meaningful connections with audiences.

Howard gained valuable hands-on experience as a Communications Assistant with Louisiana State University’s Center for Community Engagement, Learning, and Leadership (CCELL), where she supported marketing initiatives, created branded digital materials, and developed a communications brand book to strengthen organizational messaging and visual consistency. This experience enhanced her skills in graphic design, content creation, and brand strategy while directly influencing the development and growth of HowieJoy. She continues to expand her marketing expertise by pursuing additional professional development opportunities, including a Social Media Marketing certification through HubSpot.

Beyond her professional and academic achievements, Howard is committed to making a positive impact in her community. She has served as a mentor with the Big Buddy Program at Highland Elementary, supporting student growth through encouragement and engagement, and has contributed to special needs summer camps during 2023 and 2024. She credits her perseverance and success to the unwavering support and encouragement of her mother, who inspired her to remain resilient and never give up. Guided by creativity, compassion, and determination, Howard continues to build her career in digital marketing, branding, and entrepreneurship while pursuing her goal of becoming a future marketing leader.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Miranda

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the unwavering support, love, and encouragement of my mother. She has been a constant source of strength throughout my life, always reminding me to believe in myself and never give up, even when faced with challenges. Her kindness, compassion, and guidance have shaped who I am today and have inspired me to persevere, stay resilient, and continue striving for excellence in everything I do. I am deeply grateful for the values she instilled in me and the confidence she gave me to pursue my goals.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received is that the only way to truly fail is to give up. Throughout my journey, I faced challenges, especially while working through school, but I remained determined and continued pushing forward. Those experiences taught me the importance of perseverance, resilience, and believing in my ability to succeed. By staying committed to my goals and embracing every challenge as an opportunity to grow, I have continued to move forward and am now pursuing my MBA.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

The advice I would give to young women entering the marketing industry is to keep going, even if they do not have their entire career path figured out right away. Marketing is such a diverse and dynamic field, offering opportunities across areas like social media, advertising, branding, digital strategy, and so much more. Pursuing a degree, such as an MBA or a marketing-focused education, can provide a strong foundation while allowing room for creativity and innovation. Most importantly, stay committed, embrace opportunities to learn and grow, and never give up on your goals.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in marketing today is standing out in an increasingly crowded digital space while keeping up with changing technology, algorithms, and consumer expectations. At the same time, these changes create opportunities to use data, artificial intelligence, creativity, and authentic storytelling to connect with audiences in more meaningful ways.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are compassion, service, and kindness. I truly believe I was put on this earth to help others, and making a positive impact in people’s lives is my greatest motivation. I believe kindness is more meaningful than simply being nice because true kindness comes from within; it reflects who you are and cannot be manufactured or faked. I strive to lead with empathy, authenticity, and a genuine desire to support and uplift those around me.
