Her Interview

Ten minutes with Mirandia

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my husband Marcus, my two children Briana and Omarion, and my great-grandmother Katie who passed away some years ago. She would always encourage me to keep going and keep focused. I also have an assistant who helps me out a whole lot - having people that know my vision and are willing to help push my vision makes a huge difference. They definitely hold me accountable. I also make sure to do a lot of self-care so I won't get stressed out, which helps me balance wearing multiple hats. I've learned to keep pushing, stay consistent, and never give up. When I was younger, I had a lot of goals, but life happened and I had children, so I put off a lot of things until they were grown. Now I'm walking into the things that I have put off for so long. If I would have kept going then, and if I had the mindset that I have now, I probably would be further along than I am now, but I know things happen in their right timing.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Don’t quit. Keep going.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would say don’t quit, keep going. Find you a mentor in the business that you are in and gleam from them.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

In this economy, I know a lot of people are looking for a supplement job or something to help make ends meet. That's why I started the virtual assistant call center - to create opportunities for people who need flexible work. The good thing about this virtual call center is that after you go through the training, you pick your own hours that you want to work. If you want to work just on Monday afternoons and Thursday afternoons, you just pick your hours. You have to work some hours during the weekend, but you pick your hours. We're like the middleman, so we help you get the job with Fortune 500 companies, and then you work for the company. We actually have some agents working for us now. I see this as a real opportunity to help people in the current economic climate while also expanding my business.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The most important values to me are consistency, perseverance, and never giving up. I would tell my younger self to keep pushing, stay consistent, and never give up. When I was younger, I had a lot of goals, but life happened and I had children, so I put off a lot of things until they were grown. Now I'm walking into the things that I have put off for so long. If I would have kept going then and if I had the mindset that I have now, I probably would be further along, but I know things happen in their right timing. I also value organization deeply - when I was a kid, I used to always love to keep everything organized, and when I saw something that was not organized, I would help fix it. That passion for organization is what led me to start my consulting business. I also value self-care and balance - I make sure to do a lot of self-care stuff so I won't get stressed out while wearing multiple hats. And I value having people around me who know my vision and are willing to help push it forward - they hold me accountable.
