Ten minutes with Mirinda
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to launching my business, Life Vision, in May 2021, which allowed me to fully embrace my strengths in coaching, connection, and helping others gain clarity. I’ve learned that success is not defined by titles, but by the impact I make and the value I bring to others. I focus on building trust quickly, uplifting people, and connecting them to opportunities that support their growth. Whether through my work or writing Give to Get, my success is reflected in the lives I’ve influenced and the people I’ve helped move forward in their own journeys.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is that no one succeeds alone. I am deeply grateful for the mentors who have shaped both my personal and professional growth, including Dr. Brenda J. Allen, Laura Rochelle, and Jana Axline. Each of them demonstrated leadership in distinct but powerful ways—Dr. Allen through inclusiveness and impactful communication, Laura Rochelle through strategic thinking and authentic relationship-building, and Jana Axline through servant leadership, resilience, and consistently uplifting others. Their guidance taught me to lead with humility, communicate with intention, build trust through action, and invest in the growth of others. Most importantly, they helped me understand that the greatest role of a mentor is not just to give advice, but to help you see your own potential more clearly than you might see it yourself.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering my industry is to invest in relationships before you need them, because success is rarely achieved alone and the most meaningful opportunities often come through genuine connections. Stay committed to continuous learning, remain curious, and be willing to step outside your comfort zone, even when you feel confident in your expertise. Don’t wait until you feel perfectly qualified to pursue your goals—confidence is built through action, not before it. Most importantly, lead with integrity in everything you do; skills and industries will evolve, but honesty, respect, and compassion will always define your impact. When you focus on serving others, adding value, and building authentic relationships, success naturally follows.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges I see right now is the uncertainty around AI and how it will impact careers, with many individuals and even leaders still trying to understand how to adapt. At the same time, there is a strong opportunity to help people, especially women, build confidence in their value and fully own their accomplishments. A key part of my work is helping individuals overcome self-doubt, recognize their strengths, and use their expertise to uplift others as they grow.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me are, first and foremost, my faith. Secondarily, honesty, trust, respect, and commitment are core to everything I do. I feel like the best way to build relationships is to allow people an open space with no judgment - just let them be themselves and share. I focus on ensuring that the lines of communication are open and that people never feel isolated. To me, these are all really important values because you create a welcoming environment where people know they have a psychologically safe space in which their voices will be heard. When you treat people with trust and respect and make that human connection, it makes it easy for them to rise above whatever challenges they're facing. Building meaningful connections and creating environments where people feel comfortable communicating openly is at the heart of my work and my life.
