Her Story

About Missy

Missy Lavergne is the co-owner of Maggie Designs, a retail brand she launched with her daughter on August 31, 2025. Specializing in luxury pajamas, the company initially focused on designs for sororities and has since expanded to include general prints. A graduate of SMU with a degree in business, Lavergne previously stayed home to raise her eight children before entering the workforce in 2007 as vice president for Prepaid Legal in her state. In that role she trained and spoke nationwide across Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida. She received a Global Recognition Award in all five areas for her current business. Lavergne volunteers at a nursing home bringing communion and attributes her success to moving rapidly without sweating the small stuff or dwelling on mistakes. She emphasizes honesty and integrity in both her work and personal life, along with maintaining a strong spiritual foundation.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Missy

01What do you attribute your success to?

I would have to say just moving rapidly, not spending so much time on not sweating all the small stuff. If you make a mistake, just keep going and reevaluate.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Continue going forward without mulling over every little mistake. Just keep moving ahead, not spending so much time and energy on one thing. Just do it and keep going forward.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Take risks. Take chances. You have not because you ask not. If you don't ask, your answer's no already. Unless you ask, you never have a chance to get what you want.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The challenge every business faces is everything is social media now. No more TV, newspapers or magazine advertising. Everything's online. The hurdle is getting familiar with our target market and the social media that they are on. It's a double-edged sword because of TikTok and Instagram we have been able to really grow.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Honesty is huge to me. I have a strong spiritual life. Honesty and integrity, actually. Doing what you say you're going to do.
