Her Story

About Misti

I spent almost 30 years in corporate America working in marketing, brand, and sales, eventually retiring as Chief Marketing Officer - basically reaching the pinnacle of success as a marketing professional. But I wanted to pivot out of corporate and do something totally different, so I went back to school and got a master's degree in psychology and coaching. I started a company called Inspiration Coaching (spelled with H-E-R in the middle) where I coached women wherever they were - going through divorce, losing a parent, caregiving, navigating corporate life. But the biggest underlying theme I kept hearing was menopause, perimenopause, and postmenopause. I was going through it myself at the time, and it really opened my eyes to a much bigger need. Women were dealing with menopause on top of everything else - empty nest, divorce, retirement - and they weren't finding support anywhere. So I shifted Inspiration Coaching into Menopause Mafia in May of last year and became a certified menopause coach through Girls Gone Strong. What makes my approach unique is the humor. I did a lot of research and wanted to create a space where women could come together, not feel alone, not feel like they were going crazy, and find relief through laughter. The podcast, blog, and merchandise all use a comedic approach to menopause. The coaching side is more serious - it's about providing a safe space, accountability, and support for women who aren't getting it from the medical field or at home. My proudest moments have been the feedback from women saying the podcast or blog was the best part of their day, or just thanking me for doing this. I'm not just talking the talk - I'm walking the walk with them.

01What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I believe there is a huge gap in support for women going through menopause - not from a medical or clinical perspective, because there's plenty of research and support out there for that - but support from a shoulder, an ear, an accountability partner, a safe space. A lot of women don't get the support from the medical field, they don't get the support at home, and they just feel very alone and out in no man's land. Many of my clients are coming to coaching just for that reason - they need someone to help them get from point A to point B, whether that's getting out of bed in the morning, trying to lose weight and getting a plan, getting more social, getting through a divorce, or maybe promoting within their job. Whatever they're going through, they're dealing with menopause on top of all of that, and there's just not enough support for women during this time in their life.
