About Misti
Misti Mcdowell has over 25 years of experience in global health. She started her professional journey with the Peace Corps shortly after college, an experience that opened her eyes to international work and knowledge transfer, inspiring her path in global health. After returning to the U.S. for biotech work, she pursued overseas opportunities, serving in Rwanda from 2004 to 2008 on an HIV project, then Bangladesh from 2008 to 2013, and Ethiopia until 2016. For the last nine years, Misti has been at the University of Washington, where she leads a global health grant focused on HIV and health systems strengthening. She manages operations from the U.S. side while collaborating with country teams in Ukraine, Mozambique, Jamaica, Trinidad, and India. Misti holds a Master's in Public Administration, which she completed around 2001.
