About Mitchelle
I work as a hospitalist in our acute care 17-bed floor at Tomah Health Hospital, providing internal medicine and family practice type care for hospitalized patients, including some orthopedic cases but mostly general medicine. I also work in sleep medicine in our outpatient department within the hospital, where I take care of scheduling tests for patients to see if they have sleep apnea, and then supply them with education and treatment for sleep apnea, insomnia, and different sleep disorders. Additionally, I perform cardiac stress tests as an outpatient service, including nuclear medicine stress tests and Lexi scans. I began my nursing career in oncology and worked in that field until about 2009, when I switched to hospitalist medicine. I also had 10 years of primary care that overlapped with my hospitalist work. Early in my career, I did some teaching at a school in California for an MBA program, teaching a healthcare class, which was fun to get a different perspective from business people and give them the healthcare perspective. I've also done site visits for Western University of Health Sciences throughout the country, visiting nurse practitioner students at their clinical sites to see how they were doing in the program.
