Her Story

About Mitra

Mitra Gholam, ACC, is a seasoned leadership and team coach with more than 25 years of experience guiding executives, leadership teams, and business owners through complex, high-stakes challenges. As the founder of Alira Consulting LLC, she partners with organizations ranging from growth-stage companies to Fortune 1000 firms and large investor groups, helping them achieve clarity, alignment, and sustainable results. Her work is distinguished by her ability to quickly assess complexity, ask incisive questions, and translate insight into meaningful, actionable change.

Mitra brings a rare systems-level perspective shaped by a diverse background spanning human resources, finance, accounting, operations, strategy, and change management. She began her career managing and scaling physician practices before transitioning into senior care operations, where she led large teams and supported high-value portfolios. Today, she integrates that operational and financial expertise with executive and team coaching, enabling leaders to align performance with purpose while navigating growth, transformation, and organizational change.

A globally credentialed coach, Mitra holds certifications from the Academy of Executive Coaching and is an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) through the International Coaching Federation. She also serves as Lead for the Team Coaching Center for Excellence with the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC), contributing to the advancement of coaching practices worldwide. Guided by values of integrity, empathy, and a “do no harm” philosophy, Mitra is deeply committed to empowering individuals and organizations to thrive in an evolving and increasingly complex professional landscape.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Mitra

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to genuinely caring about people and consistently doing honest, high-quality work. Throughout my career, I have focused on building engaged, motivated teams and using operational and financial data to guide decision-making and outcomes. I believe in leaving “success clues” through disciplined execution, strong leadership, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I encourage young women entering this field not to take rejection personally. Coaching and consulting are about planting seeds—what you offer may not be needed immediately, but it can create impact over time. Focus on the value you bring rather than how you are perceived. Keep your ego out of the work, as it can limit your effectiveness. Also, recognize that mastering your craft is only part of the journey—building a business requires a completely different skill set that must be developed intentionally.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in the field today is the growing impact of artificial intelligence and global outsourcing. Organizations are increasingly leveraging AI and shifting work offshore, which is reducing traditional roles and increasing pressure on remaining teams. This creates both uncertainty and an urgent need for adaptability, innovation, and new ways of delivering value.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

My work and life are grounded in a few core values: first, do no harm; lead with honesty and directness; and approach others with empathy. I believe in supporting both clients and employees in meaningful ways while minimizing ego in leadership. Staying connected to purpose, people, and ethical decision-making is central to everything I do.
