Her Story

About Moana

Moana Looney Parker is a retired U.S. Navy Chief Warrant Officer and accomplished logistics professional with more than 22 years of distinguished military service. Throughout her naval career, she held positions of increasing responsibility, earning selection as a Chief Petty Officer in 2008 before advancing to Chief Warrant Officer, a distinction achieved by only a select percentage of enlisted personnel. Today, she serves in integrated logistics for a science and technology organization supporting the U.S. Department of Defense, where she applies her extensive expertise in operations, logistics, strategic planning, and project management to support critical national initiatives. In addition to her government career, Moana is the Founder and Owner of MoanaSina Creations LLC, a veteran-owned small business she launched in 2025. Inspired by her Polynesian heritage, the company specializes in original designs featured on custom stationery, greeting cards, journals, handbags, tote bags, tumblers, and other gift products that celebrate the cultures of Samoa and Hawaii. Named in honor of herself and her late mother, Sina, the business embodies the values of family, heritage, creativity, and meaningful connection. Through every collection, Moana seeks to preserve and share the beauty of Polynesian traditions while creating products that inspire and bring people together. Following her retirement from the Navy, Moana successfully transitioned into the civilian workforce, serving in executive assistant and project management roles while completing graduate studies and building the foundation for her entrepreneurial journey. She credits her success to the unwavering support of her family, particularly her husband, a retired U.S. Navy Command Master Chief, and their children, whose encouragement has remained central to her personal and professional accomplishments. Passionate about developing future leaders, Moana encourages young women considering military service to embrace every opportunity, remain adaptable, surround themselves with positive mentors, and recognize that the challenges of service cultivate resilience, confidence, and exceptional leadership skills that extend far beyond the uniform.

Ten minutes with Moana

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success primarily to my family, who have been my constant source of strength and support throughout my journey. My husband, a retired U.S. Navy Command Master Chief, along with my children, has been my backbone through every stage of my career, from my years of military service to my transition into civilian leadership and entrepreneurship. Their encouragement, understanding, and shared commitment to service have grounded me, motivated me to persevere through challenges, and allowed me to continue growing both personally and professionally.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received is to not be afraid to explore new opportunities and to follow my heart while remaining adaptable along the way. I’ve learned the importance of being willing to make necessary course corrections, staying open to growth, and trusting the process even when the path is uncertain. Maintaining mental fortitude and perseverance in the pursuit of my goals has been essential, allowing me to navigate challenges with resilience and continue moving forward with purpose.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this field is to not be afraid and to truly embrace the journey ahead. Serving your country is a meaningful and honorable path that offers tremendous opportunities for personal and professional growth. Along the way, you will learn how to develop into a strong and capable leader, especially when you remain open to growth and new experiences. Surround yourself with like-minded individuals who challenge and support you, and stay adaptable as you navigate change, knowing that resilience and flexibility are key to long-term success.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest opportunities in my field right now is expanding the visibility of my products to a wider audience. By increasing exposure, I am able to showcase the rich Polynesian cultural heritage, creativity, and intentional design that are reflected in each piece I create. This growth not only strengthens brand awareness but also ensures that more people can appreciate the cultural significance, storytelling, and craftsmanship behind every item, from stationery to lifestyle products.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are service, integrity, and gratitude. My 22 years in the U.S. Navy shaped who I am today and provided me with opportunities and experiences that I will always value deeply. As I transitioned into civilian life, I embraced entrepreneurship as a way to continue serving others through creativity, cultural expression, and meaningful connection. I am committed to honoring my heritage while sharing it through my work, and I strive to lead with purpose, authenticity, and appreciation for the journey that has brought me to where I am today.
