Her Story
About Moesha
Moesha Gray is the Account and Office Manager at her father's insurance agency in Spokane Valley, Washington, where she has built her career in personal lines and commercial insurance since 2012. Her introduction to the industry came early, helping out at the agency her father founded while she was still in high school, and she continued taking on customer service responsibilities throughout college. Though she was initially hesitant to make insurance her career, she earned her license while pregnant with her daughter and went on to commit fully to the profession, spending a decade working alongside her father before taking on a commercial-lines role at Alliant Insurance.
After her time at Alliant, Gray returned to the family agency, where she now leads with a patient and understanding style, making a point of offering extra support to the people on her team. She hopes to one day take over full leadership of the business so her father can retire, a goal shaped in large part by her experience as a single mother determined to build a stable future for her daughter through hard work and perseverance. In recognition of her career and leadership, she has been selected to be featured by Influential Women for 2026.
Gray credits her success to resilience, authenticity, and a lifelong commitment to learning, paired with the support of mentors, colleagues, and family along the way. She encourages other women entering the industry to trust their instincts, remain patient, and prioritize genuine customer service, while never hesitating to ask for help. Guided by values of integrity, empathy, and collaboration, she approaches both her work and her personal life with a focus on lifting others up, viewing every challenge as a chance to grow and every success as an opportunity to help someone else do the same.

Ten minutes with Moesha
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to resilience, continuous learning, authenticity, and a willingness to treat every challenge as an opportunity to grow. None of this has been achieved alone; it has been built through meaningful relationships, collaboration, and the support of mentors, colleagues, family, and friends who have encouraged me along the way. I've also relied simply on hard work and refusing to give up, often figuring things out on my own while raising my daughter. Staying true to my values, keeping a strong work ethic, and remaining open to new ideas have shaped my leadership style and allowed me to grow both personally and professionally.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would tell young women to believe in their abilities, trust their instincts, and not wait until they feel completely ready before pursuing new opportunities, because growth happens outside your comfort zone. Insurance is a field that is always in demand, but it isn't easy — success requires patience, strong customer service, and a genuine commitment to educating clients about their coverage. Stay curious, keep learning, and seek out mentors who challenge and inspire you. Don't let setbacks discourage you; they build resilience, confidence, and wisdom. Be authentic, stay adaptable, learn to separate personal matters from business, and never underestimate the value of asking for help, building strong relationships, and supporting those around you. Ultimately, define success by your own values and purpose rather than someone else's expectations.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges in my field include client misunderstandings about coverage, rising rates, and navigating difficult customer interactions. At the same time, there is tremendous opportunity in the steady, ongoing demand for insurance, which allows for building a reliable and lasting book of business. Beyond that, embracing innovation and digital transformation, developing new skills, and building meaningful professional networks all create new possibilities. I see real value in mentoring future leaders, collaborating with people from diverse backgrounds, and supporting inclusive leadership that opens new pathways for women to lead and drive meaningful change.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values I hold most important are integrity, authenticity, empathy, professionalism, collaboration, and empowering others, all guided by honesty, consistency, and accountability. Hard work, perseverance, and patience matter deeply to me as well, both in how I lead my team and in how I show up for my daughter. I strive to treat people with respect, listen with understanding, and create an environment where others feel valued and supported. I also believe in giving back by mentoring others and helping them recognize their own potential, because success means the most when it creates opportunities for others to grow too.
