Ten minutes with Mollie

01What do you attribute your success to?

I'm a servant leader, and I take pride in being that servant leader because it helps my team understand my expectations. On a daily basis, it's water off a duck's back. You go with the flow, you concentrate on the customer service aspect of everything, and you can't go wrong with the customer service aspect. As facilities, you want it to be a healthy workplace environment. It's very important that we maintain the properties and maintain everything all the way down to fire extinguishers. We want to make sure that everybody is happy and healthy and safe, and that they have all the tools that they need in case emergencies come up. I take great pride in these buildings, and I take great pride in my team, because they also take things very seriously.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The most valuable professional advice I have received is, “Take the emotion out of it.” This guidance reinforces the importance of approaching situations with objectivity and clarity, especially in the workplace. By focusing on facts rather than feelings, I am better able to make sound decisions, communicate effectively, and resolve challenges in a fair and constructive manner. Maintaining a composed and level-headed perspective not only strengthens problem-solving but also fosters trust and professionalism in every interaction.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My biggest advice would be to not fill the mold, but to recreate the blueprint. It's a predominantly male industry, so you have to create your own lane. Don't allow anybody to tell you what your lane is in the industry. You can create your own lane.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in facilities management is that it’s still a predominantly male field, but I also see that as an opportunity for more women to step into leadership roles and help shape the future of the industry. Operationally, there’s also a huge opportunity to move from reactive maintenance to a more proactive, customer-service–focused approach that improves both safety and the overall experience for employees.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are servant leadership, strong customer service, safety, pride in the facilities and team I support, and maintaining a healthy, positive workplace for everyone.
