Her Story

About Molly

I have been a career administrative professional for 35 years. My journey began in the Air Force, where I served for 22 years doing administrative work throughout my entire military career. I ended up at the Pentagon as the Executive Assistant to the Vice Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff. After retiring from the military, I started my own one-woman admin shop providing remote, fractional admin support. During COVID, we got inundated because everybody was working remote, and it kind of grew from there beyond what I could do as one person. So I created VEXA Services, which is a fractional admin support agency. I also found that the software for admin professionals was not adequate, so I started VEXA software, and we design software specifically for admin professionals. You can see a theme throughout everything I do. Over the last 2 years, I am co-founder of a non-profit professional organization called the National Institute of Administrative Professionals, where we are working to advocate for the advancements of our career field and its upcoming changes with AI and technology, and provide education, because there is no education for administrative professionals today. Providing administrative support is what I do, it's what I love. The admin profession is over 90% female, and anything we can do to advance the administrative profession is a plus for us. We're trying to get the word outside of the admin community that we provide value, there's a lot of strategic value and leadership value that we bring to the team.

01What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The administrative profession is facing upcoming changes with AI and technology, and there is currently no education available for administrative professionals. We're working to advocate for the advancements of our career field and provide that education. One of the biggest challenges is getting the word outside of the admin community that we provide value - there's a lot of strategic value and leadership value that we bring to the team, but that word doesn't really always get out there. That's what we're trying to do with a lot of our outreach today.
