Her Story

About Monay

Monay Ross is a Texas-based notary public and entrepreneur who transformed a life-changing transition into the foundation of a thriving business. Originally from Chicago, she made the bold decision in 2025 to relocate to Texas with her family, following a critical moment in her personal life—when one of her twin daughters successfully underwent heart surgery and also driven by a desire to create a better environment and new opportunities for her four children. That decision marked the beginning of a new chapter—one defined by resilience, independence, and purpose.

With a background in healthcare administration and nursing education from Northwestern College, Ross developed a strong attention to detail, compliance, and client care—skills that now set her apart in the notary industry. After exploring various career paths, she discovered the notary field and recognized the opportunity to build something of her own while maintaining flexibility for her family.

As the founder of Monay & Co. Notary Services, she provides mobile notary services, loan signings, apostille processing, estate planning notarizations, and Remote Online Notarization (RON). Serving Katy, Houston, and surrounding areas, her business is rooted in professionalism, efficiency, and a commitment to delivering a seamless client experience.

In addition to her entrepreneurial pursuits, Ross continues her work in medical claims, balancing both roles as she strategically grows her notary business toward full-time success. She actively markets her services through digital platforms, including TikTok and targeted online advertising, while also building strong community connections and a recognizable personal brand.

Driven by her role as a mother and business owner, Ross approaches her work with discipline, determination, and heart. Known for her reliability and client-first mindset, she is committed to building long-term stability, setting healthy boundaries, and creating a legacy that reflects both her ambition and her dedication to her family.

Ten minutes with Monay

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my children—they are the foundation behind everything I do. Being a mother of four has shaped my mindset, work ethic, and determination to create a different path for my family.

They motivate me to keep going on the days that feel uncertain and remind me why consistency, discipline, and growth matter. My decision to leave Chicago and start over in Texas was rooted in creating better opportunities and a more stable future for them.

Beyond motivation, my success is also driven by resilience, faith, and a willingness to take risks. Building a business while balancing motherhood and a career has required focus, sacrifice, and a strong sense of purpose. I approach every challenge with the mindset that I am not only building a business, but also setting an example for my children of what it means to pursue something greater.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received was simple: don’t overthink it—just take action.

When you know there’s something you want to pursue, you have to block out the noise, the doubt, and the opinions that can hold you back. Not everything will be clear in the beginning, and it won’t be easy—but taking that first step is what creates momentum.

That advice has stayed with me as I’ve built my business and made the decision to start over in a new city. It reminded me that growth requires courage, and that waiting for the “perfect time” can keep you from ever getting started.

I’ve learned that success comes from trusting yourself, staying focused, and being willing to do the work—even when it’s uncomfortable.

“You don’t need everything figured out to start—you just need to start.”

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the notary industry is to focus on building a niche. Many people assume being a notary is simply stamping documents, but there are multiple paths within this field that can turn it into a scalable business.

When you take the time to specialize—whether it’s loan signings, apostille services, estate planning documents, or Remote Online Notarization (RON)—you position yourself to offer more value and create additional income streams. The notary industry is far more expansive than it appears, and those who understand that early have a significant advantage.

It’s also important to invest in learning the business side—marketing, client experience, and professionalism. That’s what separates someone who is simply commissioned from someone who is building a brand.

Most importantly, don’t underestimate the opportunities within this industry. There is room to grow, expand, and create something meaningful if you’re willing to be consistent and intentional about your direction.

“Don’t limit yourself to the title—there’s real power in how you choose to build within it.”

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced is learning how to effectively manage growth while maintaining balance. As my business continues to expand, there is a constant demand to be available, and early on, I found myself trying to accommodate every request.

Over time, I’ve realized that sustainable success requires structure, boundaries, and intentional scheduling. Balancing client needs, business growth, and motherhood has pushed me to become more disciplined with my time and more strategic in how I operate.

At the same time, this challenge highlights one of the biggest opportunities in the notary industry—the ability to build a flexible, scalable business. With services like mobile notarization and Remote Online Notarization (RON), there is significant potential to grow while creating systems that support both efficiency and work-life balance.

I’m currently focused on refining that balance—ensuring I can continue to provide high-quality service to my clients while also building a business that allows for long-term sustainability.

“Growth isn’t just about doing more—it’s about learning how to move with intention.”

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that guide both my work and personal life are communication, honesty, and integrity.

Clear communication is essential in everything I do—whether it’s working with clients or raising my children. It builds trust, sets expectations, and creates a strong foundation for any relationship. In my business, it ensures that clients feel informed, confident, and taken care of throughout the entire process.

Honesty and integrity go hand in hand with that. I believe in being transparent, dependable, and consistent in how I show up. Those values not only shape my professional reputation but also influence how I lead and support my family.

At the core of everything I do is a commitment to doing things the right way—treating people with respect, following through on my word, and creating an environment built on trust.

“How you show up matters—and I believe in showing up with honesty, clarity, and purpose every time.”
