About Monet
Monet Holmes serves as Assistant Director of Group Homes at InReach, a role created to leverage her skills after she excelled in program management for group homes. With over 10 years in the nonprofit sector supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities, she began her career at Lifespan Services as a job coach before advancing to coordinate services. There, she expanded operations from one county serving about 12 clients to six counties with over 70 clients and two managers reporting to her. At InReach, her contributions include solidifying training programs and materials that have been adopted company-wide. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2014, following studies at UNC Greensboro from 2008 to 2010, and is currently enrolled in the Industrial Organizational Psychology Master's program at UNC Charlotte.

01What do you attribute your success to?
Being a millennial raised with both print and electronic navigation, latchkey kid responsibility leading to high level of responsibility and seeing things through different eyes.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
You're in those rooms for a reason. Always be yourself and bring to the room only something that you can bring.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Remember that the small picture is human services and customer service. Treat the people you serve like your mother, sister, brother. Lead with compassion, empathy, and integrity.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Budget cuts affecting nonprofit funding from grants, state funds, and Medicaid, requiring adjustments in spending.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Self-care, work-life balance, freedom and pleasure. Being your best self translates to all areas.
