Monica Buckley is an experienced library professional with over 27 years of service in the Wicomico County Public Library system. She currently serves as the Assistant Branch Manager at the Centre Branch, where she oversees daily operations, assists in staff hiring and training, and ensures excellent customer service. Monica is bilingual in English and Spanish, providing vital support to immigrant families and bridging language gaps to make library services accessible to all.

Her career at the library system began as a Sr. Circulation Assistant, and she has progressively advanced through roles including Circulation Manager and Assistant Branch Manager. Monica has extensive experience managing staff, overseeing circulation and collection maintenance, implementing efficient procedures, and organizing programs that engage the community. Her expertise extends to training staff, supporting technological initiatives, and resolving complex customer interactions, ensuring a welcoming and efficient environment for all patrons.

Monica holds a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from PennWest Clarion and a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Salisbury University. Beyond her professional work, she is actively involved in volunteer efforts, including tutoring with 4-H Wicomico County and costume repair for Footsteps Dance Academy. Committed to community engagement and lifelong learning, Monica exemplifies leadership, service, and dedication to empowering others through education and access to information.

I attribute my success to starting early in the library field—working there in high school sparked my passion for the industry, and that early experience has guided my career ever since.

The most important values in my work and personal life are creativity, dedication, and caring for others—whether it’s helping library patrons, supporting my team, or using my spare time to sew meaningful projects like my daughter’s homecoming dress.
