Monica Hernandez
Monica Hernandez, PMP is an accomplished system designer, project management expert, and co-founder & CTO of Convoking4™. With over 20 years of experience in the technology industry, she has dedicated her career to helping organizations navigate complex digital transformations. Monica combines technical expertise, strategic insight, and a deep understanding of organizational dynamics to guide companies in aligning vision, strategy, and operations for sustainable results. As a PMP-certified professional and active member of PMI, she brings rigor, discipline, and industry best practices to every engagement.
Throughout her career, Monica has led large-scale initiatives across multiple industries, transforming BC-DS from a traditional strategic consultancy into a hybrid SaaS organization. She conceptualized and developed Convoking4™, a pioneering decision intelligence platform that operationalizes human-centered decision frameworks. Monica introduced the concept of “Decision Debt,” a structural challenge organizations face when priorities, approvals, and governance are misaligned. By applying AI-enhanced decision frameworks, she enables organizations to reduce friction, improve stakeholder alignment, and execute strategies more effectively. Her work focuses on building decision architecture frameworks that help organizations achieve not only what they aim for but also where they aspire to be in the future, connecting immediate actions with long-term vision.
Monica is known for her pragmatic approach to transformation, particularly in the era of disruptive technologies such as AI. She emphasizes the importance of translating sophisticated tools into practical solutions, helping organizations avoid what she calls the “sick of fancy” problem—where AI-generated insights may impress but do not always deliver actionable value. By grounding strategy in reality and guiding organizations step by step, Monica ensures that technological innovation drives tangible outcomes. Her expertise bridges decision intelligence, digital governance, AI strategy, and organizational design, making her a trusted advisor for leaders seeking clarity, alignment, and measurable impact in complex, dynamic environments.

What do you attribute your success to?
For me, I am consistent, and I also focus on reaching goals. I'm very focused on reaching goals. So, if the role of the project is to implement a system, or to change the way that we are working in a process, I'm sure I will reach that. I call it consistency. That's what I attribute my success to - being consistent and maintaining that focus on reaching the goals I set out to achieve.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
My best advice is to listen. Always listen to the person or the people that you are working with before reacting. I think this is maybe not super important to some, but for me it's the best career advice - taking the time to truly listen before you respond or take action.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
We are in a very disruptive moment with all these AI algorithms playing a very important role across the spectrum of any career. What I really advise is to focus on the delivery that you would like to present, or your goals. Focus on that. I'm working right now on building decision architecture frameworks that help organizations reach their goals based on not only what you want to reach, but where you want to be in the future. For example, if your primary goal is to be on the moon next week, you first need to establish which steps you need to get there before you start planning and spending time doing things. You need to plan it out and be very clear about your path forward.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I see more opportunities than challenges, actually. As a consultant, I have a very wide perspective on what organizations need. I think that even with the disruptive technologies that we have in front of us today, this is where organizations most need consultancy and advice on how to implement that technology, avoiding what I call the 'sick of fancy' that AI provides. When you go to ChatGPT, or Gemini, or any of these chatbots, what they're doing is fantastic. But sometimes you need to go down to the reality and understand that not necessarily what the AI is proposing is the best solution. You need to see a little bit more, and that's when a consultant like myself can help. The disruption creates tremendous opportunity for those of us who can guide organizations through it effectively.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Honesty is the first one. I think without honesty, you cannot gain the trust of your teams. And the other one is being straight. I don't know if that could be called a value, but sometimes you need to just say what you need to say, instead of going through the branches - or as you said, beating around the bush and trying to avoid it. These values of honesty and directness are what guide me in both my work and personal life.
