About Monica

Monica Jackson is an inventor focused on maternal health and postpartum care. She created a specialized breast pad designed to pull out breast milk, ease the engorgement process, and help dry up milk supply more quickly for women who are ready to stop breastfeeding. Jackson began her career 30 years ago, working for 15 years as an engineering drafter in a shipyard handling marine engineering, piping, and HVAC systems. She later transitioned into commercial and project management roles, including serving as a commercial appraiser for various buildings. As a mother, her personal experiences inspired the invention, which she first developed over 25 years ago. Now self-employed in Atlanta, Georgia, she is pitching the product to manufacturers and drawing on her technical expertise and entrepreneurial lessons to bring it to market. Jackson advises women entering business or invention to gain experience under established companies or mentors before stepping out on their own.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

In whatever area is your passion, it is good to sit under a corporation or company or someone who has experience so that you can get understanding and educate yourself before. Learn from some of the mistakes and just really glean from them before you really step out.
