Her Story
About Monica
Monica Jones is a seasoned Senior Director of Global Shared Services at WESCO Distribution, bringing nearly three decades of expertise in procurement, inventory management, and end-to-end supply chain optimization. Her career began in 1997 as a buyer in Mexico City with Anixter, where she steadily built her foundation in the industry before relocating to the Miami area in 2002 and advancing through a series of progressive leadership roles supporting Latin America. A graduate of Universidad Anáhuac with a Bachelor of Business Administration and currently pursuing her Six Sigma Greenbelt certification, Monica has consistently paired academic grounding with real-world application — leading complex global initiatives that deliver measurable operational and financial results across North America, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific.
Monica's most defining professional achievement came in 2019, when she was entrusted with building a shared services organization from the ground up — a bold undertaking that included the successful outsourcing of 65 positions in 2020, marking a first in the company's history. Today, she oversees a team of approximately 127 professionals across India, the United States, and Mexico City, managing critical global functions such as PO management, excess inventory operations, receiving discrepancy resolution, and supplier invoice reconciliation. Her ability to reimagine procurement and supply chain operating models through digital solutions and scalable Global Business Services frameworks has earned her recognition as a Trade Blazer Award recipient in Women's Supply Chain — a testament to her impact both within her organization and across the broader industry.
What truly sets Monica apart is her people-first leadership philosophy in an industry historically dominated by men. She has cultivated an all-women leadership team with zero attrition, a reflection of her deep commitment to fostering inclusive, high-performing environments where every voice is heard and valued. A firm believer that confidence and determination can dismantle barriers and redefine expectations, Monica leads by example — challenging the status quo, empowering those around her, and consistently proving that strategic vision paired with authentic leadership can drive extraordinary outcomes at a global scale.

Ten minutes with Monica
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the power of teamwork and cross-functional collaboration. Throughout my career, I have remained persistent in earning respect and securing my seat at the table. Above all, I've always prioritized building teams where every member feels genuinely heard and valued — because when people feel empowered, the results speak for themselves.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't wait until you feel ready — take the chance and challenge yourself even when you're not fully prepared, it will become a valuable learning experience that shapes who you are as a professional. Earn your place at the table, and make sure your voice is heard. Approach every situation with respect, set boundaries with confidence and professionalism, share your ideas clearly and confidently - your perspective is valuable, and the more consistently you contribute, the more others will recognize your value.
Always walk in knowing you are capable and deserving; confidence is often the deciding factor in whether others perceive you as a leader.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the ongoing challenges is navigating a historically male-dominated industry, where breaking through requires consistent persistence and confidence. Additionally, leading complex outsourcing and shared services implementations comes with its own set of hurdles. That said, the opportunities are tremendous — supply chain offers a wide range of specializations to explore, and there is incredible potential to build and scale global shared services organizations while developing the next generation of leaders.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Teamwork and collaboration are at the core of everything I do. I place great importance on respect — both giving and earning it — and on creating environments where people feel heard and valued. Mentorship and leadership development are also deeply important to me, as I believe that true success is measured not just by personal achievements, but by the growth and empowerment of those around you.
