Ten minutes with Monica
01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
My grandmom always taught me that as long as you're doing the right thing, there's nothing anyone can say. Another thing is everything is hard, but you have to choose your heart, and just don't give up. I'm very spiritual too, so just having faith that you can't have faith and worry at the same time.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
You have to love what you do. You have to be encouraged, and you have to find ways to navigate throughout the process to keep to stay positive. You have to surround yourself with people that's going to motivate you, and you have to be self-motivated and encourage, and find ways to always to improve professionally, personally. Being resourceful.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
My values are helping people and motivating people. I'm a giver, like, I love to encourage and help people. One of my goals, too, is I want to be a motivational speaker, because a lot of people think that, you know, like, I didn't go to college, I just worked and navigated and did my resources. So, a lot of times, people feel like they can't do it. So my thing is to show, yes, you can. If I can, you can too.
