Her Story

About Monica

Monica Paque is an executive coach, leadership strategist, author, and founder of The Luxury Coach™, a leadership development practice created to help accomplished women strengthen their presence, confidence, influence, and sense of alignment as they grow into more visible and demanding roles.

Drawing on nearly two decades of leadership experience in financial services, Monica brings a deeply practical understanding of what leadership looks like inside complex organizations. Her work is informed by specialized expertise in emotional intelligence, executive presence, decision-making, communication, and the internal pressures that often accompany professional advancement. She is especially interested in the space between how leadership appears from the outside and how it feels to the woman carrying it.

At the center of Monica’s work is a belief that leadership should not require constant performance, over-functioning, or self-abandonment. She helps women recognize the patterns that drain their energy, weaken their confidence, and distance them from their own judgment, then build a more grounded and intentional way of leading. Her approach blends strategic leadership development with reflection, identity work, emotional intelligence, and practical tools designed to help women become more discerning, credible, and fully present in the way they lead.

Monica has created original leadership frameworks and methodologies that explore presence, confidence, energy, identity, and influence. She is the author of The Little Book of Corporate Fables™, a collection of stories examining the often-unspoken realities of work and leadership, and the creator of Orensa, a digital coaching and reflection companion designed to extend leadership development beyond the coaching session.

Her professional development includes executive education through Yale School of Executive Management, along with credentials through Genos International, SHRM, and the Center for Executive Coaching. Across her coaching, writing, and broader body of work, Monica is building a leadership philosophy centered on credibility, emotional intelligence, presence, and the belief that sustainable influence begins with knowing how to lead without losing yourself in the process.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Monica

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute much of my success to curiosity, resilience, and a willingness to build before I have every answer. I have never been afraid to learn something new, rethink what is not working, or take a calculated risk on an idea I believe in. I have also learned that credibility is built over time through consistency, discernment, and how you show up when no one is applauding. The more I have trusted my own perspective, the more confidently I have been able to create work that reflects it.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Never confuse experience with arrival. The moment you believe you have nothing left to learn is usually the moment your leadership begins to stagnate. Stay curious, remain teachable, and be willing to evolve beyond the version of yourself that created your current success.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Learn the difference between being visible and performing for visibility. You do not need to become the loudest person in the room to establish your value, but you do need to know what you bring to it. Develop your expertise, trust your perspective, build credibility through consistency, and learn how to communicate with presence. Ambition and authenticity are not opposites. You can be powerful without becoming someone you do not recognize.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the greatest opportunities in leadership development right now is expanding the conversation beyond performance. Women are extraordinarily capable, yet many are still navigating environments where success can come with over-functioning, emotional labor, exhaustion, and pressure to constantly prove themselves. Coaching has an opportunity to address not only how women lead, but how leadership feels while they are doing it. I believe the future of leadership development will place greater value on emotional intelligence, energy, self-awareness, presence, and sustainable influence.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Presence, integrity, curiosity, credibility, and alignment matter deeply to me. I believe leadership should never require a woman to become disconnected from herself in order to be effective. I value doing what I say I will do, remaining open enough to keep learning, and creating space for other women to recognize their own capacity. For me, success means building something meaningful without sacrificing the person I am becoming in the process.
