Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my faith in God, the guidance and mentorship I’ve received from Gail Price, a licensed clinical social worker, and the strong work ethic instilled in me by my father. These influences have shaped my approach to both my personal and professional life, providing me with the foundation, discipline, and support needed to achieve my goals.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received came from my mentor, Gail Price, who encouraged me to apply for a supervisory position. That guidance was pivotal in advancing my leadership journey and helped me gain the confidence to take on greater responsibilities.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is to be patient, cultivate a genuine love for working with people, and always strive to be a great listener. Building strong relationships and understanding those you serve are key to long-term success.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest changes in my field is the integration of mental health and substance use disorder treatment into everyday practice, which presents both challenges and opportunities for more holistic care. At the same time, stigma and bias remain significant obstacles—particularly around ADHD diagnoses and assumptions of drug-seeking behavior—which disproportionately affect Black patients. Addressing these barriers is essential to providing equitable and effective care.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are honesty, empathy, and compassion for others. I strive to approach every interaction with integrity and understanding, ensuring that I build trust and make a positive impact on those around me.
