Her Story
About Monick
I am currently the nursing dean at a community college for the ASN program. I facilitate and lead the School of Nursing across 19 other campuses and started the associate's program from the beginning, growing it to our 8th cohort. Previously, I was full-time faculty for the same college for 2 years and then became dean of another campus. Before moving into education, I worked in the corporate sector in long-term care post-acute settings, leading a team of 6 nurse consultants and educators teaching CNA and QMA classes across over 100 facilities. I also served as a nurse consultant assisting long-term care facilities with state board of health compliance, and was director of nursing at two facilities where I earned Clinical Leader of the Year awards.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Nursing is a wonderful field. Do some self-reflection to determine your why, because nursing school can be very disruptive to your personal life with the challenges of lecture, lab, and clinical. You really have to want to do it and know your why for sustainability in the program. Nothing compares to human touch, ear, or empathy which AI cannot replace.
