Ten minutes with Monique
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the mentors who saw potential in me and challenged me to grow. Early on, my seventh-grade English teacher pushed me in ways that shaped my future, and throughout my career, others have supported my development, trusted my work ethic, and given me the freedom to define opportunities for myself. Their guidance and belief in me have been key to helping me flourish and achieve my goals.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would advise young women to consider how their personal lives and career aspirations can align. Too often, people feel they must choose one over the other, but I encourage looking at decisions from a whole-person perspective—finding ways to integrate both rather than seeing them as mutually exclusive.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges I see today is the growing gap young adults face after graduation. They work so hard to get into college, but many aren’t prepared for what comes next — the transition into the workforce. As a result, too many end up underemployed or moving back home, not because they lack talent, but because they lacked guidance.
Through my coaching business, I help close that gap. I work with young professionals seeking direction, working parents balancing dual responsibilities, and individuals navigating career transitions who feel stuck between what they know and what they truly want next. Together, we build the clarity and resilience needed to make meaningful, sustainable change.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me revolve around service, presence, and alignment. Professionally, I take pride in supporting the workforce through my HR credentials and as a certified leadership coach, while also giving back through volunteering and board service with organizations like the YMCA and the Alzheimer Association, which has personally impacted my family. Personally, I value being fully present as a working mother—attending my sons’ sporting events and supporting my family—while balancing my career. I’ve been married for 28 years and strive to create alignment between my personal life and career, approaching life from a whole-person perspective.
