About Monique
I am currently a market manager, and I oversee the Chicagoland market for Total Talent Resources. I've been in this role for 3 years. I'm responsible for leading the recruiting team and everyone that interacts with our customers, so I am on the field every day, partnering with hiring managers, making sure we understand their needs, because at the end of the day, what we do is match talent with opportunity. I spend a lot of time working with the recruiters, analyzing their pipelines, helping them screen and streamline the process that's best going to work for our customers. Everything's 100% customizable based on our customers' needs, so it is very unique in that way, where we have to adapt ourselves to numerous processes. And then having us be the employee on record, and having so many employees out to work every day for us, we also are responsible for any issues that arise, so solving those challenges and really working with the customers as we are partners in everything. The biggest part of my role is mentoring everyone on my team and helping them grow professionally, staying focused on results, and informed of all the changes that are happening in our industry in order for us to adapt and continue to still be able to put the people first as we're building this strong team. My goal every day is to leave everyone better than I found them. Every interaction is always my best intention to be able to impact someone in a positive way, whether it's a person walking in through the door, or a customer that might be just calling with a question.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice would be rise to the challenge. Staffing is going to have a new challenge for you every day. Taking care of today's issues, resolving today's issues today is very important, because tomorrow is going to come with its own problems. So, being able to stay a part of the solution, I tell this to my team all the time, we get hired to solve issues. That is the job. If our customers had the hiring figured out, we would not be in business. So staying with the mindset to be a part of the solution is what achieves the growth.
02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I think one of the bigger challenges in our field right now, in the state of Illinois, there's a lack of understanding for our business. They reclassify staffing with day labor, and there's a lot of laws that are being passed that have made it a little more challenging for us to be able to service those communities. So having full understanding of the business and the law, the law is there, and we follow it, but being informed, I feel like when we strip everything away, all we do is match talent with opportunity, but it's so layered now. So, one of the challenges is people stepping into the field without a full scope of everything that really falls under our umbrella.
