Her Story

About Morgan

I've been in my field for 10 years now, and it's funny because I feel like I landed in sales as an accident, almost. I always knew that I wanted to help people, I always knew that I wanted to be able to teach and educate people, and I thought that would be in the form of healthcare. Then I realized I really didn't want to go to med school, and I didn't want to go get a PhD. I wanted to be talking with people a little bit more directly than being the one doing the research. So I started my sales career at a health and wellness company, and have just loved it ever since, because I'm able to coach people, I'm able to teach people and develop their sales process to be able to have the salesperson bring a product to more people, to be able to help and develop them. Now that I am a founder myself, I run a consulting company where I work directly with founders to get to the root cause behind the issues in their sales process. I help them figure out what are the blockers for them being able to bring on a full-time sales hire to get sales off of their plate. We're running audits of their sales calls, we're developing ICPs, or ideal client profiles, and I help just educate people about different ways they could be approaching their sales process. What I love about my work is the education piece, though that's also what is challenging about it. The challenge is being able to get people in a spot where they're able to think about what it is that they do successfully, and be able to translate that into something that someone else could take over. A lot of what I'm doing is coaching these founders in discovering their process that they basically had scribbled on sticky notes and swirling around in their head for the past few years, and help them get some things actually organized.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best piece of advice that I've received is people have, people need what you have. It's just figuring out the best way to be able to help people with the things that you're an expert in, and figuring out how to communicate what you're an expert in. People crave communication and relationships with others, and that camaraderie that is built. So being able to build those relationships, whether they're in sales, whether it's starting your own business, whatever that may be, it's important to always remember you are an expert in something, it's just figuring out what you're the expert in that's the challenge.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Try it all. Make mistakes, and make mistakes fast, because when you try different things and figure out what works for you, you'll be able to become successful really quickly. And the faster that you figure out those mistakes, and the faster you figure out why you failed, the faster you'll be able to move into success.
