Her Story

About Morgan

Morgan Craig serves as Associate Social Media Director at VML, where she acts as the social media lead on various accounts. She spends her time analyzing social trends, pop culture, and formats to develop strategies that help brands like those in CPG, personal finance, and retail connect with target audiences through culturally relevant content. Craig began her career in social media marketing around 2016 after earning a degree in public relations from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina, with a minor in Spanish. Her path included an internship at Weber Shanwick that sparked her interest in the digital side, followed by roles at Miram Shopper on retail influencer campaigns, full-time work at Weber Shanwick on influencer and social media strategy, and positions at Edelman and Assembly where she led influencer work for clients such as TJ Maxx and Marshalls and managed global social channels for Microsoft. She credits her success to being motivated by her goals, persistently networking, and working hard to get her foot in the door. Craig advises aspiring professionals, especially young women, to keep pushing, find what sets them apart, and never lose sight of their objectives, while also emphasizing that it is a small world so one should never burn a bridge.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Morgan

01What do you attribute your success to?

I think I really was motivated by what I want and where I wanted to go, and I just kept trying to network with people, or find my way in, or make myself unique in order to just kind of get my foot in the door, and then once your foot is in the door, it's easy, and you can kind of prove yourself and prove your work ethic. So that's kind of how I got here, just by being persistent and working hard.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

It's a small world, so never burn a bridge. Every person that you meet is important in their own right, and someone that you may cross paths with again.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

It's always been competitive and challenging to get into this industry. My advice is to really just keep pushing, keep trying, and keep kind of finding something that sets you apart from everyone else, and don't lose sight of where you want to be, even if people are telling you no.
