Her Story

About Morgan

Morgan Frampton serves as an underwriter on the construction professional team at AXA XL, based in Exton, Pennsylvania. In this role, she handles contractors liability, professional liability, and pollution liability insurance, managing renewals, pursuing new business, and building relationships with brokers through negotiations. Frampton joined AXA XL three months ago after completing an underwriting trainee program at SAMPO, where she worked for one year and eight months under the guidance of mentor Lauren Olejar. She earned a bachelor's degree in finance and accounting from the University of Pittsburgh and holds the Construction Risk Insurance Specialist (CRIS) designation while actively working toward her Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU) credential. Frampton credits her professional growth to daily attention to detail and learning from senior underwriters, and she advises others to step outside their comfort zones, noting her own transition from an accounting internship to a fulfilling career in insurance.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Morgan

01What do you attribute your success to?

I think just trying to do good work every day, even if that's small day-to-day tasks, just putting in the work and attention to detail, and just trying to learn from more senior underwriters.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't be afraid to try something new and get out of your comfort zone. I thought my original path was in accounting, but it was scary to realize that wasn't what I wanted after my internship. But it all worked out, and I was able to find something that I do enjoy. Even though communications with brokers would have scared me, doing it day-to-day has made me a lot better at it.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Challenges: Trying to stay competitive with emerging markets coming in more competitively priced, stay on top of new entrants and the market. Opportunities: A lot of opportunities to deepen expertise, grow relationships with brokers and clients, learn from colleagues.
