Her Story

About Morgan

Morgan Scott is the Chief Operating Officer at The Mahoney Group, a role she has held for approximately two and a half years. She brings 21 years of experience in the insurance industry, 16 of which have been spent at The Mahoney Group, where she has grown through service, management, training, and executive leadership positions before stepping into her current role. As COO, Morgan oversees enterprise-level operations for the organization, with particular focus on service departments, HR, claims, and the operational infrastructure that supports the company's teams.
Morgan's career reflects a steady progression built on hands-on experience across nearly every facet of the business. Starting in service and moving through management and training roles, she developed a comprehensive understanding of how the different pieces of an insurance organization fit together — knowledge she now applies to closing the gaps between departments and ensuring clients experience a seamless organization rather than a fragmented org chart. She holds a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation and is a Certified Personal Trainer through ACE Fitness, reflecting her interest in wellness alongside her insurance career.
Outside of her role at The Mahoney Group, Morgan serves as a board member for Prescott Firefighter Charities and co-owns Live Well Fitness LLC with her husband, a personal training and nutrition business. She is known for a people-first leadership style, an emphasis on mentorship, and a willingness to have candid conversations about the everyday challenges of leadership — from strategic planning to navigating the unwritten dress codes of the business world. Based in the Greater Phoenix area, Morgan continues to build on a career defined by operational discipline, authenticity, and a commitment to bringing out the best in the teams she leads.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Morgan

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a commitment to helping and mentoring others while continuously growing throughout my career. I believe that people-centered leadership creates stronger teams, fosters trust, and enables individuals to reach their full potential. Investing in others has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my professional journey.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve received is to seek guidance from a variety of mentors. Throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate to learn from leaders who have challenged me, encouraged me, and helped shape my leadership style. Their diverse perspectives have played an important role in my personal and professional growth, and they’ve reinforced the value of continuous learning and development.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Be authentically yourself and believe in your abilities. Embrace your unique strengths and have the confidence to lead with them. You don’t have to change who you are to succeed—your authenticity is one of your greatest assets. Own your boldness and use it to make a meaningful impact.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the greatest opportunities is for women to step confidently into leadership roles and embrace their influence. At the same time, a significant challenge remains the gendered expectations that often hold women to different standards. Qualities such as assertiveness and direct communication are frequently viewed differently in women than in men, making it important to continue fostering more equitable and inclusive workplaces.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I value people-first leadership, authenticity, mentorship, and creating a positive impact. I believe in leading with empathy, supporting the growth of others, and staying true to my values. For me, success is measured not only by results but also by the positive difference I make in the lives of the people I work with and mentor.
