Her Story

About Morgan

Morgan Valois is a professional in the roofing construction industry with approximately seven years of experience. She began her career in the field as a scheduler and has progressed to handling extensive customer communication and de-escalation, overseeing the service department, ensuring jobs run smoothly, and supporting technicians with necessary resources while emphasizing safety and hydration. Prior to entering roofing, Morgan earned a Bachelor's of Science in Biology and Environmental Science from the University of Lynchburg, formerly known as Lynchburg College in Virginia, and worked at Richmond Alarm Company, which was acquired by Johnson Controls, where she engaged in customer communications during emergencies and programming tasks. After moving to Ohio, she joined Fiesel Roofing. Morgan attributes her professional success to working hard and holding her head high during difficult times. She values honesty and treating others with kindness, following the principle of treating people as she would like to be treated. She participates in company initiatives supporting children's hospitals in Ohio and Special Olympics events. Among career advice she has received and shares is the importance of staying true to oneself and trusting one's instincts, as going against gut feelings has led to poor outcomes in her experience. She advises young women entering male-dominated fields like hers to recognize that colleagues are approachable when demonstrating a commitment to helping and building the business.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Morgan

01What do you attribute your success to?

I would say working hard and just kind of holding your head high when things are hard.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

I had a manager who always encouraged people to be true to yourself. If something doesn't feel right, it probably isn't. Every time I have gone against my gut it has ended up in a poor situation.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Boys are not nearly as scary and hard-headed as they think they are. Most technicians from technicians all the way up to executives, man or woman, they're usually easy enough to talk to once you show them that you are here to help, you're here to build the business. Just kind of stay true to yourself and things aren't as scary as they seem.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Labor force is very hard to come by right now. Ever since COVID things shifted a lot. Making sure you have the right people in the right places. Don't be afraid to shift people around.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Honesty. I really don't like fudging around the truth. Just being honest with them even if honesty is what hurts at that moment. Just being kind to people, to treat others as who would like to be treated.
