Her Story

About Morgan

Morgan Wilbur has been in HR for a little over 10 years. Her career began in college with hospitality and odd jobs, followed by a payroll position that sparked her interest in the field. After graduating, she worked in the academic industry for 4 or 5 years handling compensation and benefits, including payroll. She was then headhunted to her current manufacturing company as a compensation analyst focused on executive compensation and benchmarking. Within 6 months, her role expanded to the strategic side of HR, where she now manages full-cycle HR for corporate employees, the commercial team, and some engineers, while developing talent programs. Morgan earned a bachelor's degree in business administration with a minor in marketing management, followed by a master's in organizational leadership with a concentration in HR development, and later completed an MBA, which was supported by her employer. In college, she was involved with the Collegiate Scholars Group and was formerly a member of SHRM. She has participated in volunteering efforts such as Brawls for a Call, a Breast Cancer Awareness Month bra auction fundraiser. Morgan attributes her success to strong communication skills, understanding of people, hard work including long hours, a drive to complete tasks thoroughly, and the ability to speak up and advocate for herself.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Morgan

01What do you attribute your success to?

I think what contributes to my success is my communication and understanding of people, but also I work very, very hard and long hours sometimes, but I'm also somebody that I can't rest if I know that it's not complete. It also goes hand-in-hand just with communication and understanding everybody's workload, and being able to feel comfortable communicating. I used to be so terrified to speak up, especially with people that are in much higher positions, but you gotta speak up for yourself.
