Her Story

About Mrudula

I moved to the United States from India in 2011 as a child of an immigrant and have navigated multiple visa statuses throughout my journey, currently on my own H-1B visa. Having gone through the processes of being an international student myself, I experienced a lack of support during my transition, which sparked my passion and interest in this field. This personal experience led me to pursue my master's in clinical mental health counseling. I started my career at the University of Cincinnati where I created a position as an international student career coach. I then moved to Ohio State University's Fisher College of Business, where I again created the position of International Student Career Coach or Counselor. I am currently the only International Student Career Counselor in the entire Ohio State. I'm now pursuing my PhD and just moved into PhD candidacy, focusing on career development for international students living in the U.S. I recently had one of my articles published and have presented at many conferences about the intersectionality between career development and mental health for international students living in the U.S. I'm not only focused on supporting students within my college, but I'm also very determined to support other colleges at Ohio State and hopefully soon other people and colleges throughout the United States.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I think more than words of wisdom, I would like to say that don't shy away from what you have to offer, because what you're bringing in is always so unique to you. And it's always going to benefit somebody like you, or somebody that you wouldn't even think about, and I'm sure you're gonna make a difference in their life.
